Oops, Historic vases smashed in stumble.
"A stumbling visitor has destroyed a set of priceless vases which stood on a shelf for 40 years. The 300-year-old Qing vases were among the best known artefacts at the Fitzwilliam Museum in Cambridge. The visitor is said to have slipped on a loose shoelace and fallen down a staircase bringing the vases crashing down as he tried to steady himself."
Poor bloke. He's alright after his fall though and walked off after being seen by some medics.

The guardian has a bit of an interview with The new face of darts. Was a great final on Sunday, all very tense. It was great when they asked him in the tv interview after his win what it'd be like at the airport back home in Holland and he said he didn't know cause he'd be getting the ferry.

There're now some Memphis Photos available in slightly easier to digest chunks with some place names and that. Follow our road trip from Memphis back to Wilmington via Nasvhille, Dollywood and South of the Border. If there's any you really like I think you can get prints straight off the site.

Image hosted by Photobucket.comThere was talk of organic boxes this weekend delivering various local organic seasonal veg. I'm not a big fan of organic veg, that potato blight wasn't all that fantastic really. Mind you getting local food without a ridiculous amount of packaging is a good thing. Anyway if you end up with some beetroot and don't know what to do, you could make my mate Liz's nice hummus type thing out of Mahdur Jaffrey's (sp??) World Vegetarian...
Pureed beetroot salad

1 good sized beetroot or 2 small (180g)
4 tblsp chopped walnuts
small boiled potato or 30g stale white bread (i use
pot)
1 clove garlic
6 tblsp olive oil
2 tblsp red wine vinegar (i use white)
half tsp salt

Scrub beetroot and leave the ends on. Boil for 40 mins - 1 hr depending on size (You know if its cooked by sticking a knife in it, like you would a potato. See if it's soft. Leave it till you knife it otherwise all the purple will leak out. If its a big one, it'll be at least an hour. They seem quite happy to be boiled to death.). Cook potato while ur at it. Peel beetroot when cooked. Blend walnuts. Put everything in whizzer, et voila.
