More photos online. This time Sue, Leslie, and Tika's Party as taken by Erin. Lots of fun was had and I didn't even drink! The strange letter pics are us spelling out MACRL (Marine and Atmospheric Chemistry Lab) check me and Tika out as an exclamation point, I may just make it as a cheerleader after all.

 

I was looking for buses to my mum's house on line and found this story about "a Southgate bus route deemed so dangerous by drivers they are scared to go to work is to be patrolled by plain clothes police officers." Bus Route To Hell is apparently the 299. Boo! Southgate is meant to be nice.

 

How exciting I just opened this PDF file and printed the page onto a bit of card and now I have a 3d calendar to go on top if my puter. 12 sides, one for each month, very clever, I got to cut it out along the lines and score the folds and everything!
Its got proper cold here at the minute. Down to -8°C tonight apparently. May have to wear my waterproof trousers just for the extra layer.
I've been enjoying my extra long weekend here for Martin Luther King although I did have to come into work yesterday afternoon. Boo. Found some top "look at the strange brits" TV. Been enjoying "Nanny 911" and "supernanny"(which isn't as good) with no nonsense brit nannies sent off to sort out crazy American kids. I've also been watching Brat camp where out of control teens get sent to the middle of nowhere in America to build fires and camp with people called things like stone bear all very strange. Now I better get back in the lab. Lots to do this week.

 

Boo, no more Busted. If they do that jumping in the air and putting their legs to the side bit separately it wont be as impressive as when they did it in synch. I've been looking at the

Prince Harry makes the Wilmington local news!
Just so you know the cover of the sun was on the Wilmington local news today. Its an international scandal.
Its tipping it down today. I now have soggy feet and trousers. While we were driving to the rain site to set up extra bottles to catch it the severe wether warning system came on the radio. Its quite scary for me, the programming of whatever you're listening to is interupted by lots of beeps and then a recorded message comes on telling you abuot the bad weather. Severe thunderstorms today!

 

In case you forgot in May I had my first visit to an American dentist. My second visit was to a different dentist as they couldn't get an appointment for me at the original one till April. This new dentist had lots of cool toys, they took lots of digital pics of my smile and then checked my teeth out with a camera and I could see too which was very cool. Apparently things look good, although he was asking why I had my wisdom teeth and if I'd thought about getting my bottom crowded teeth fixed which was a bit odd. I also noticed a diploma from Las Vegas on the notice board.

Then I found out even though I'd had upteen x-rays a few months ago, these weren't good enough and I'd need to have a new set of 18 x-rays taken before the dentist could see me. As its so close to the last x-rays this would cost me $85. So after a long chat where I found out I couldn't get a check up or a teeth clean without these x-rays I left. I now have an appointment at the original dentist for tomorrow. The other cool thing was I got given my X-rays to take away with me from last time. Brilliant!

 

I have returned to North Carolina and its quite warm. I've brought back a bit of a cold and that cough I had for 5 years seems to be back, hopefully not for another 5 years. Pics of my trip home for the festive season can be seen here.

I had a nice time eating curry and having some booze at Liz's place in the country dressing up for New Year's Eve and seeing the family


I had a look at my local radio station, the Penguin's Top 100 owlbums of the year and see that I don't have a single one of them.
Meanwhile back at Channel 4 I see they're doing another vote for 100 Greatest Albums It looks very fair and open. The top 100 will be made up from a list of 125 including two bob dylan, one bob marley, one elvis and one queen lp. How exciting!
Oooh and American Idol starts up again soon.
