A bit late but here is the link to the lovely bar I went to in Savannah,
Wet Willies. Here you can see the lovely wall of boozy slush puppies of various flavours. Quite strong. After thes we found our way onto
the stage for some lovely interpretations. Rocked out to some Bon, Leslie sang to us about Gypsies, tramps and theives, Sue told us about her love of big butts, and I serenaded the bar with eternal love.

Got to see the match yesterday at the Dubliner Oirish pub. Was pretty busy there for 2.45 on a thursday afternoon. Was watching the match with nice portugese guy which was all very cosmopolitan. Also apparently the local footie team coach was there too
(Hammerheads). Was all very strange. Big cheers for Portugese goals but slighty bigger cheers for the england. To make things more interesting just after the 2nd missed penalty the cable tv went down. I then tried frantically to ring Luke on my mobile but it wouldn't let me. I finally got a text to Kate who replied with a simple "gutted". Boo.
Portugal better win me the sweepstake now.

Went out with my hommies for a bit of a leaving do last night. Went to
Dockside which is a nice place by the water where you sit on the dock watching the ships coming in and going out again. Well kind of. Then we went on to Rum runners for some more booze filled fun. 75cent a shot. Dear oh dear. Had lots of fun will be sad not to live with my nice hommies anymore but we have nice exciting things to look forward to like my fancy new flat. I learned last night that vodka and coke is a freaky drink over here and they couldn't believe I was drinking that. How odd.
(Here's a recipe for this complex cocktail) Only counted a couple of U.S.A. U.S.A. songs last night which was good. Sadly not feeling too clever this morning. I think its probably not a very good sign that my cycle ride in this morning was making me feel travel sick.

Bee stings, bug bites and bleeding oh my! I guess if i'm honest i haven't fared all that badly so far with the summer bugs. but its only June and everyone tells me it'll get horrible here in August. But here are some top tips on how to cope with bits n stuff. Telling you not to put bleach on yourself and they say fanny pack. Tee hee hee. Fanny pack!

'The Jury' started last night on telly here. Its got Beth Jordache in it as an American lawyer standing up for the little guy. Not a great show, lots of it was pretty stilted but Beth's looking good.

More Mel's Movies....
I got to see a few more pics this weekend.

Friday night found
A Knight's Tale on the telly. Wasn't what I was expecting, was surprised by the sudden burst of queen and the dance with the bowie was very cool.

Also went to the flicks and saw donnie darko in
The Day After Tomorrow . Very cool film. Literally. Do you see what I did there? This was great, just like independence day with the darn bureaucrats never listening to the scientist in the know. Then big disasters which mainly affect New York with odd random mentions of other places in passing. Lots of nonsense science talk and computer modellers who go out sampling for some reason. Top stuff.
Then I saw
The Last Samurai on DVD. I gotta say they didn't seem to be very good Samurai considering a whole bunch of them couldn't take out little Mr Cruise, but what do I know. Normally don't like films featuring beards and long hair but after a while it picked up. Not fabulous but worth a watch.

You're having a giraffe!!!
I just got my dentist bill back cause its not all covered by the dental plan I'm already shelling out loads for. Total cost of a clean up, 7 x-rays and 3 minutes with the dentist...$227. Luckly only about an extra $20 for me to pay but still, was a bit of a shock to open that letter.

Mel's Movies
I saw many movies this weekend hooray.

At the cinema
Shrek 2 was pretty good lots of nice funny little jokes.

At home
Kill Bill volume 1 was great. Always nice to see all that blood spurting around, but obviously not so much in real life as I tend to pass out at the sight of the stuff.

Also at home
In America was one I really liked. Not to be confused with Coming to America with Eddie Murphy, this one is about a nice Irish family grieving for their little boy. No tears from me though. I'm rock hard.

Wilmington Hammerheads vs top UK team
Look at that! Sunderland are coming to play footie over here. "Sunderland AFC, also known as the Black Cats have captured six English Championships and two FA Cup Championships."
“It is unbelievable that we (Hammerheads) are able to bring a football club of the magnitude of Sunderland to Wilmington, North Carolina. It is a true measure of the Hammerheads organization and a feather in the cap of the Wilmington soccer community for their support of professional soccer.”
I'd go but I'll be Eng-er-land then so I guess I'll have to miss it.
RV owners gripe about gas prices but won't give up the lifestyle
I saw a very sad story on the news last night. These poor folk are having to pay an average of $2 for a gallon of petrol! That's about 34p/litre. Now sadly they can no longer afford to drive house sized cars across the continent. Tragic.
